There When You Need Us
Red Cross disaster relief focuses on meeting the emergency disaster-caused needs of individuals and families. The Red Cross responds to disasters ranging from a single-home fire to national disasters. Emergency response activities are cost-effective and community-based.
When a disaster threatens or strikes, we provide food, shelter and health related services to address basic human needs. In addition, we help individuals and families to resume their normal daily activities independently. This may include a referral or a way to pay for what is needed most: groceries, new clothes, rent, emergency home repairs, transportation, medicines and occupational tools. All assistance is based on verified disaster-caused needs.
All disaster assistance is free—literally a gift as a result of the generous support of the American people.
The Red Cross also feeds emergency workers, handles inquiries from concerned immediate family members outside the disaster-affected area, and links disaster victims to other available resources.
Local Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteers provide this immediate local response over 100 times a year, right here in Saginaw County
Your Saginaw County Red Cross also helps people lessen the impact of disasters through disaster preparedness education and mitigation; providing the community with information on how to prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters.
